Attractions
The
historic market town of Pickering is surrounded by some of the most
picturesque countryside and forest drives in the U.K. and draws
a large number of tourists, many of whom are day trippers visiting
Pickering Castle or the Steam Railway.
For the more adventurous Pickering offers everything from gentle
country walks to long distance hiking, plus spectacular forest drives
through nature reserves, you can even go 4x4 off roading at the
U.K's largest off road centre.
The
nearby Yorkshire Coast is attractive to couples and families alike
and has much to offer in the way of traditional seaside entertainment
and coastal walks. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Flamborough and Bempton
Cliffs is well worth a visit, as is the five miles of broad sandy
beach at Filey, with its famous clifftop 'brigg'.
